Incompatibilities

It is important to note that this mod is incompatible with the Recover Arrows and Disable Durability mods. Combining either of these mods with this one causes the spear to behave incorrectly, negatively impacting its functionality and potentially rendering it partially unplayable.

For this reason, it is recommended not to use these mods together, as they directly interfere with the mechanics implemented for the proper use and balance of the spear within the game.

Recomendations

If you use other weapon mods in addition to this one, I recommend downloading the latest beta version of this mod. It puts the spear crafting recipe in the bows tab to avoid conflicts with other mods.

Spears adds fully playable spear weapons to Hytale’s Exploration Mode, following the same material progression as existing vanilla weapons such as swords and daggers and the other weapons.

The mod makes use of the official spear assets already present in the game files and adapts them to be craftable, usable, and balanced for survival gameplay.

Features

- Adds one spear per material tier, matching Hytale’s normal weapon progression.

- Spears are available in Exploration Mode through normal crafting.

- Fully integrated crafting system:

Crude Spear is crafted at the Workbench.

All other spears are crafted at the Blacksmith’s Anvil (Bow tab, example in the image).

- Damage and durability values have been adjusted to fit naturally alongside vanilla weapons.

- Maximum stack size has been reduced to be consistent with other weapons.

Combat Style and Gameplay

- Spears introduce a distinct combat playstyle compared to swords and daggers:

- Slightly longer reach than most melee weapons, allowing players to keep more distance from enemies.

- Very little to no area damage, focusing on precise single-target attacks.

- Main attack is a thrusting (piercing) attack rather than wide slashes.

- Charged attack throws a spear-shaped projectile that deals 150% of the spear’s base damage.

The thrown attack behaves similarly to a bow:

- A projectile that visually looks like the spear is launched.

- The player does not lose the spear from their inventory.

- This allows ranged tactical play without weapon loss.

- This makes spears effective for controlled, positional combat rather than crowd clearing.

Current Limitations

- Spears do not have an Ultimate ability yet, as the base spear implementation in the game files is incomplete.

- Due to technical limitations, thrown spears consume durability instead of being removed and picked up later.

- In addition to attempting to adapt spears to the current state of the game, this mod is constrained by the limitations of Hytale's basic mod creator in its current version. Currently, it's not possible to modify certain weapon parameters, and these limitations are even greater when dealing with incomplete weapons, such as the spear.

For this reason, some mechanics like the high stamina consumption or the spear's proper function when thrown are very difficult, or even impossible, to implement correctly until the developers officially introduce and fully develop the spear mechanics.

The goal of this mod is to add spears to exploration mode and make them feel like a natural, balanced, and enjoyable addition to Hytale's combat system, while remaining true to the game's current mechanics and progression.

I'm very sorry, but due to the current limitations, we've done everything possible with the basic mod creation tools available at this time. This mod was created primarily for all those players whose favorite weapon is the spear, with the goal that they can at least enjoy and play with it within Hytale.

Balance Adjustments

Combat with spears has been rebalanced:
- All spear levels now deal slightly more damage.
- Each spear hit consumes slightly more durability.
- Adjustments ensure spear damage and durability make sense compared to other weapons and preserve its unique combat style.
Spear knockback reduced from 1 → 0.5:
- Knockback is still effective against enemies, but no longer excessively strong.
- Maintains fairness with other weapons while keeping the spear’s distinct feel in combat.

v1.0.4_TabFix

It adds and fixes the same things as the regular version 1.0.4, but this version puts the crafting of spears in the bows tab. This is an optional beta for those who have incompatibilities with other weapon mods and the spears tab doesn't appear for them.
