Better Grapple Guns cuts the grappling gun's cooldown down to almost nothing, so you can chain grapples together instead of waiting out a long recovery timer after every use. Nothing else about the grapple gun (range, speed, pull strength) is touched — only the cooldown.
Features
- Near-instant grapple gun cooldown — chain grapples together instead of waiting ~12 seconds between uses.
- Only affects the grappling gun specifically — other weapons' cooldowns are untouched.
- No changes to grapple range, cable speed, or pull strength.
Requirements
- UE4SS installed. This is a Lua mod, so UE4SS must already be set up and working before this mod will do anything. If you don't have UE4SS yet, install that first — its own instructions will walk you through it.
Installation
- Locate your Palworld installation folder. By default on Steam, this is:
<your Steam library>\steamapps\common\Palworld\Pal\Binaries\Win64\(Right-click Palworld in your Steam library → Manage → Browse Local Files if you're not sure where this is.) - Inside that folder, you should already see a
Modsfolder (created by UE4SS). Open it:...\Pal\Binaries\Win64\Mods\ - Extract the downloaded zip, then copy the whole
NoGrappleCooldownfolder into thatModsfolder, so you end up with:...\Pal\Binaries\Win64\Mods\NoGrappleCooldown\Scripts\main.lua - In that same
Modsfolder, openmods.txtin a text editor (Notepad works fine). - Add this line anywhere in the file (or change it if it's already there from a previous install):
NoGrappleCooldown : 1 - Save
mods.txtand close it. - Restart Palworld (or restart your dedicated server, if that's where you installed it).
Dedicated Server
Weapon cooldowns are likely authoritative on the server side, the same way other combat-related values are in our other mods. If you're playing on or hosting a dedicated server, install this on the server as well to be safe — this hasn't been specifically tested as client-only in multiplayer.
Notes
- The cooldown value is set to a very short non-zero duration rather than exactly 0 — a literal 0 works but leaves a stuck "0" displayed on the weapon's HUD cooldown indicator. The near-instant value avoids that display glitch while still feeling immediate.
- Safe to add to or remove from an existing save.
