Windtology – The True Pirate Experience
 
Transform Windrose into a harsher, and more rewarding sailing experience where your ship is your lifeline.
 
Sailing is no longer optional. Fast travel is removed, distances are increased, and every journey requires preparation. The sea becomes the core of progression, not just transportation.
 

 
Play Like a Pirate
 
The mod is built around life at sea. Most resources now also come from naval combat, boarding, and drifting loot. Ship upgrade materials can primarily be obtained this way, rewarding players who take risks on the open water.
 
Freedom of Progression
 
Recipes are no longer tied to bosses. If you find the resources, you can craft the item. Progression is driven by exploration and risk instead of artificial unlocks.
 
High Risk, High Reward
 
Naval combat is rarer but far more meaningful. Loot has been reworked, rewards are better, and the wrong fight can leave you stranded far from safety.
 
Reworked Progression
 
Ships, economy, and progression have been fully rebalanced:
  • Repairs are costly and repair kits are rare
  • Trade is essential, not optional
  • Resources and loot have real value
  • Multiple viable playstyles, including piracy, trading, and gathering
 
Exploration Matters
 
Longer distances and reworked maps turn every voyage into a commitment. You do not just go somewhere—you prepare, sail, and hope you make it back.

Installation:
Place all files in: Windrose\R5\Content\Paks\~mods
For MP also in:  Windrose\R5\Builds\WindowsServer\R5\Content\Paks\~mods
(Everyone must have it installed to work properly in MP.)
 
Important:
Main files require a new world (and a new character is recommended). 
Existing worlds will break and only work again after removing the mod.
 
Balanced for singleplayer, but multiplayer seems to work fine (tested on Nitrado server).
 

More versions on nexus (e.g. limited fast travel)
